Online Money-Making 101: Adsense

This might be extremely obvious to most, but for those who it isn’t like a bad record on repeat, here it is: google adsense and how to use it.

You’ve probably just set up your blog or website, posted a bit of content, and you’re wondering how can i make some money out of this? Well that question would take an age to answer, but here is the quick answer: get Adsense.

For those who don’t know what it is, Adsense is an advertising network run by google, whereby a website owner signs up and places google’s ad-code on their site. Once the code is in place, and someone looks at your website/blog, google will display some advertisements on your site that are meant to be relevant to your site. For example, if you’ve just set up a blog all about shoes, shoe styles and shoe reviews, then google might render some advertisements for online shoe shops. This way your visitors will see ads that are related to what they’re looking for, and they are therefor more likely to click on them.

Now here comes the fun part. For each time a user clicks one of the ads on your site, you get money! Yeah, it’s that easy. It involves hardly any energy on your behalf and you could be raking in the cash. It’s good to keep in mind, though that you are not allowed to click on your own links. This is known as click fraud and is a breach of google’s terms and conditions so do not try it. Now, how do you get started?

Getting started with Adsense

  1. Set up and Account - Click here and sign up for a Google Adsense account. Be sure to use your real details so they can pay you.
  2. Set up an Ad - When you’re in your Adsense account homepage, click “Adsense Setup” and follow the instructions to set up an Ad.
  3. Add the code - Add the code you were given to somewhere on your website. This is where your advertisements will be displayed. It is a good idea to make sure that the ads you place on your site fit with the rest of your layout.
  4. Make your website interesting - Okay so you’ve got the ads on your site, but how will you get visitors to your site if youre website isn’t interesting? Keep posting new interesting material and keep updating your site so people keep coming back. Remember though: you can not click ads yourself, and you cannot entice visitors to click ads (this is also click fraud).

I hope that’s helped out all of you adsense noobies out there! If you have any questions please post them in the comments section of this post!
