Most people who use iTunes or QuickTime for Windows will be aware of the updater program that updates your software for you whenever a new version arrives on the virtual shelves. Most of you will not be aware that the apple updater has been pushing software other that QuickTime and iTunes as of late. Recently many user’s of Apple’s QuickTime or iTunes on Windows have been met with an unexpected guest: Safari 3.1

Apple claims that Safari is the world’s fastest web browser (and I tend to agree for the most part), but forcing a new, unfamiliar browser upon unsuspecting Windows users is a bit sneaky. Personally, I’d be chuffed if all Windows users started using Safari, and leveraging the already huge iPod & iTunes user base is a great way to make atleast some of them switch.. But I also believe forcing it upon them isn’t the right way to go about it - it will only confuse people who most likely are just recovering from this new “firefox” thing.. As promised nearly 6 months ago, Limewire has unleashed it’s Music Store on the world with about 500,000 (mostly independant) tracks. It’s still in Beta right now, so not everything is perfect and changes are still being made (like, hopefully, an increase in more well known artists?). A quick browse, though, turns up some of my favorite bands like Data Rock. Tracks are all $0.99 as far as I can see, and albums are $9.99. Alternatively you can buy a monthly subscription and get up to 75 downloads a month for $19.99 (that’s $0.27 a song!). Nice stuff.
Unfortunately, It’s only available to people from the US (due to licensing restrictions) so, being from Australia, I was unable to test out their services. If you’re from America, please leave your feedback in the comments!
Apparently, according to PC Magazine, these are the top 10 most commonly used passwords online:
- password
- 123456
- qwerty
- abc123
- letmein
- monkey
- myspace1
- password1
- blink182
- (your first name)
Now, I wouldn’t have really posted this except a) It shows how stupid people are and, b) blink-182 is my favourite band and it’s pretty awesome that they are the 9th most popular password ever. Wicked.

Everything you ever make or ever do has been done before. Nothing you make will be entirely original and there’s really nothing you can do about it…So why not embrace it? When a designer sets out to design a new css template, he or she rarely starts from scratch without inspiration. I know I, personally, like to browse a few sites and a few portfolios to get a bit of inspiration for my new work of art.
