Feedburner to Launch Adsense for RSS

Beginning next week, and starting with a small group of publishers, Feedburner (if you aren’t already sending your RSS through them, do so now) will begin to roll out Adsense for RSS feeds, as they announced on their blog. So this means that in addition to reading a nice, clean and convenient RSS feed from one of your favorite blogs, you’ll be reading a nice, clean and convenient RSS feed, plus some contextual advertising thanks to Google. This means that the ads you see will be semi-relevant to the content you’re reading.

This should be good news for publishers and bloggers looking to make an extra few pennies out of their readers, but bad news for readers who chose RSS to escape the annoying ads and bandwidth-heavy content. So far, attempts at monetizing RSS feeds have been poor at best, but now with google owning Feedburner, as well as one of the biggest RSS readers (google reader) and having a huge advertiser base (adsense, adwords), the tides could be turning.

If you operate a blog and haven’t signed up to feedburner already, we advise you do so now, and in a few weeks you could be earning some extra pennies from feed-based adsense.

Don’t Ever Say “Your Ad Here”

When you’re in the blogging business, you’ll no doubt come across, or even have on your own blog, little 125×125 Advertisements. These are great. They can bring in a bunch of money if you know how to implement them right and hey, everyone likes money :)

But there is at least one thing to avoid at all costs; “Your Ad Here”

It’s okay to put a little text link with “Advertise here” or “Your Ad Here” but NEVER put a blank ad with nothing but some little text saying “Your Ad Here”. Here’s why:

  • Advertisers want to see existing results.

Advertisers want to see happy customers already there being advertised. They will be more secure about advertising on your site if they see that they aren’t the first to do it.

Now, most people won’t automatically have a bunch of direct advertisers lined up, so what I advise you start off with is an affiliate network such as pepperjamnetwork and set up a few of the 125×125 ads available on there.

Now that you’ve done that, you can start selling advertisements directly - they usually make more money than network ads as well!

New Entrecard Formula Makes Prices Rocket

The new entrecard formula is ridiculous.

The idea is good and sound (prices increase as demand increases) but the implementation is bad. Some blogs are over 200,000 Entrecard points! W.T.F!

I don’t really have much to say about this except that this new pricing strategy really makes the 500 EC points I won only this morning nearly worthless. Good on ya, Entrecard!

Entrecard. Powerdropping

Entrecard users will, no doubt, be aware of what dropping your card is. Every day you’ll have to drop you card on dozens, if not hundreds of blogs to get your points up. The more cards you drop, the more points you get - the more points you get, the more blogs you can advertise on.

I’d like to share with you all a very useful utility i just found on oblife.com, which can help your drop at the speed of light.

Click here to take a look.

Basically, what you do, is enter your entrecard user ID and click browse. The script will then automatically load a new entrecard blog that you haven’t viewed yet, so you can drop your card and then click browse again to load a new blog. You can drop up to 300 cards a day, so do this 300 times a day and you’ll be racking up the cards! If you’ve got more than 1 blog/account then, heck, just keep dropping! You could easily rack up thousands of points a day.

Remember, the more drops, the more points, the more advertisements, the more visitors to your blog and therefor the bigger your audience and bigger your profit.

Advertisement Networks List

Here is a (growing) list of all internet advertisement networks for you to check out. Although this list is geared at publishers (people looking to make money from displaying ads), it is also equally useful for those of you looking to advertise your website.

CPM (Cost Per Thousand Impressions) Networks
TribalFusion
- Site must have 2,000+ uniques/day, and must be regularly updated.
ValueClick - Supports other advertisement strategies such as pop-ups.
CasaleMedia - Websites must be under a root domain (www.something.com) and have atleast 10,000 unique visitors per month.
BurstMedia - Seems to be more exclusive than other similar networks.
IACAdvertising - Doesn’t seem to support 3rd-part publishers. Useful for people looking to advertise.
Advertising.com - Claims to be world’s biggest internet advertising network.
Bannerconnect
RealTechNetwork - Website looks a bit unprofessional, payment available through paypal.
Interclick
RightMedia

CPC (Cost Per Click) Networks
Google Adsense
- Probably the internet’s most well known publisher solution.
Yahoo Publisher - Yahoo!’s answer to Adsense. Only available in the US.
Bidvertiser - Payment available through paypal (!).
Adbrite - Between-page ads as well as standard ads (I personally don’t like these but they might be more profitable, if they don’t piss off your visitors).
Chitika - Shopping-related ads.
Kontera - “In-Text” advertisements.
Clicksor - Supports adult content (i think?).

This list will be updated as I encounter more advertisement opportunities/networks, so check back every now and then!
